Corrections and changes
A dated claim only means something if the corrections are dated too. This page lists the site’s own errors — what was wrong and what it says now — and changes to the tool data, newest first.
Corrections on the site
- The email marketing and GDPR guide said Gmail and Yahoo require one-click unsubscribe from senders sending at least 5,000 emails a day. The threshold in Google’s guidance is more than 5,000 emails. The section has been corrected in every language version.
- The German version of the email marketing and GDPR guide said double opt-in was “nicht vorgeschrieben” (not required) without mentioning that the German data protection authorities (DSK and BfDI) expect it to verify an electronic consent. The section has been corrected with sources. The Norwegian and Danish versions now add the consumer authorities’ recommendation to use double opt-in.
- The section “What Gmail and Yahoo require of senders” in the best email marketing software guide said the requirements apply to senders sending at least 5,000 emails a day. The basic requirements in Google’s and Yahoo’s guidelines (SPF or DKIM, and a spam rate below 0.30%) apply to every sender, however, and the threshold is more than 5,000 emails. The section has been corrected to describe both parts.
- The comparison table on review and pricing pages marked the page’s own tool as “Our pick”. The label came automatically from the page’s tool, not from a judgement — and the site does not make recommendations. The label has been removed from the page’s own row; the editorial pick in articles is unchanged.
- ActiveCampaign’s strengths said its range of integrations was “the widest coverage in the comparison”. For three of the tools compared the number of integrations has not been read from the source, so the widest cannot be known. The superlative has been removed and the sourced figure kept. The same was corrected for HubSpot’s app count.
- The introduction to deliverability called it “the single most important property of an email tool”. That claim is not measured, and it contradicted the same section, which says the series figures are history rather than a buying basis. The sentence has been removed; the definition and the source details stay.
- The Ad links and funding page said from 13 September that we are in only one programme (Systeme.io), although we joined the EmailOctopus programme on 13 September. The list has been corrected in every language: two programmes, both with marked links.
- From 4 to 13 September the home pages promised three upcoming topics (marketing automation, search engine optimisation, course platforms) and advertised a newsletter that has not been opened. The promises have been removed: the site only talks about what is published. The newsletter page and form return when the newsletter actually goes out.
- From 5 to 13 September the English home page said the comparisons were published only in Finnish, although from 12–13 September they existed in six languages. The card now links to all six.
- Deliverability: Tooltester’s seed-list series (2017–2024) moved to history, because the series has ended and in August 2026 the source explained that the method no longer reflects real inbox placement. Replaced by eight points from the providers’ own help pages, every cell with its source. The selection reasoning on 42 pages rewritten.
- The share image (social media preview) claimed from 4 to 13 September “Tested, measured and dated”. We do not test tools, so the word was wrong. The image now says the same as the home page heading, in each language.
- The fonts were loaded from Google Fonts, so every page load connected to Google, which the privacy policy did not mention. The fonts are now served from our own server; the page only connects to the visitor measurement, which is in the policy.
- The llms.txt file intended for language models claimed the site tests tools. The claim has been removed; the site reads price lists and privacy policies, it does not test.
Changes to tool data
The same line appears in the changelog on each tool’s review page.
- ActiveCampaign: Finnish interface: the “No” mark corrected to “Partly”. The guide (11 June 2026) says Finnish is no longer maintained but can still be chosen as the account language — the same status as Danish, which was already marked partial.
- Systeme.io: Prices read from the price list: Free 2,000 contacts, Startup $17/month (5,000), Webinar $47/month (10,000).
- Systeme.io: Data location corrected: according to the privacy policy the data is in AWS’s Irish data centre, not in the United States.
- EmailOctopus: Added to the comparison. Prices read from the price list: Pro €9 (500) / €16 (2,500) / €36 (10,000) on annual billing.
- Brevo: Prices read from the price list. The model is volume-based: Starter €7 (5,000 emails) / €21 (15,000) / €28 (20,000).
- MailerLite: Prices and free plan read from the price list. Free plan 250 subscribers (previously 500) and 2,500 emails/month; plans Comfort and Power.
- MailerLite: Data location checked in the privacy policy: EEA customers contract with Irish MailerLite Limited, data centre in the EU.
- Mailchimp: Added to the comparison as a reference point. Prices read from the price list in euros; free plan 250 contacts and 500 emails/month.
- GetResponse: Free plan removed from the price list: only a 14-day trial is offered. Prices read from the price list in euros.
- ActiveCampaign: Prices read from the price list in euros. Starter €15 (1,000) / €39 (2,500) / €149 (10,000), all on annual billing.
