Head-to-head comparisons

When the choice has narrowed to two options, here is a straight answer on which one to take.

A comparison page answers one question: which of these two. If you have not narrowed the options yet, start with the main comparison.

When a head-to-head is worth reading

A comparison of two tools is a different instrument from a broad overview. It is worth opening at the point where the options have already narrowed to two and the question has changed from “which of these” to “which of these two”. Then one difference usually decides, not a feature list.

On these pages that difference is dug out and calculated in euros: what the price difference is at your list size, what turns it the other way, and what you lose in each direction. At the end of every comparison we also say when neither is the right answer — often the cheapest or best-fitting option is a third one you have not considered yet.

All comparisons

  • MailerLite vs Brevo

Contact-based price against volume-based. The difference is settled by sending pace.

  • MailerLite vs Mailchimp

At the smallest list the price difference is 30 cents. The difference is in the free plan and the data location.

  • Brevo vs EmailOctopus

The two cheapest in the comparison. The line runs at about 5,000 contacts.

  • Systeme.io vs Brevo

Both have a free plan and data in the EU. The choice comes down to which limit you hit first: 2,000 contacts or 300 emails a day.

  • Systeme.io vs MailerLite

The free plans differ eightfold. The paid prices are in different currencies, so the choice is settled somewhere other than price.

  • EmailOctopus vs MailerLite

EmailOctopus is cheaper at every list size. In return MailerLite gives list clean-up inside the app and wider integrations.

  • ActiveCampaign vs GetResponse

The two most expensive in the comparison, neither with a free plan. The difference is how far the automation has to stretch.

  • Brevo vs ActiveCampaign

On the cheapest plans the difference looks huge, but both put automation on a pricier plan than the price table suggests.

  • Brevo vs GetResponse

Both European, data in the EU. The choice comes down to whether your bill follows sending volume or list size.

  • Brevo vs Mailchimp

Brevo is cheaper at every list size. Mailchimp answers with one thing read from its help: Omnivore checks the list automatically.

  • EmailOctopus vs ActiveCampaign

The cheapest and the most expensive in the comparison. The question is not which is better but whether you need what the pricier one gives.

  • EmailOctopus vs GetResponse

Both keep the data in the EU. EmailOctopus is cheaper and free for a long way; GetResponse answers with webinars and unlimited sending.

  • EmailOctopus vs Mailchimp

The free plans differ tenfold. Mailchimp’s answer is two things that are not on the price list.

  • EmailOctopus vs Systeme.io

The two most generous free plans in the comparison, which run out at different points. Limits calculated for four sending paces.

  • Mailchimp vs ActiveCampaign

At 2,500 contacts the price is the same, and neither stores the data in the EU. The choice comes down to what you actually do with the tool.

  • Mailchimp vs GetResponse

GetResponse is cheaper at almost every list size and keeps the data in the EU. Mailchimp’s answer: automatic list checking and familiarity.

  • MailerLite vs ActiveCampaign

The gap in the price table is smaller than the real one, because ActiveCampaign’s conditional content only starts on the Plus plan.

  • MailerLite vs GetResponse

The cheaper one changes with list size. Both keep the data in the EU, so what is included decides: webinars or landing pages.

  • Systeme.io vs ActiveCampaign

Both sell automation and both limit it on their cheapest plan — in different units.

  • Systeme.io vs GetResponse

Prices in different currencies, so no price difference is shown. The free plan decides, and what the package holds besides email.

  • Systeme.io vs Mailchimp

The free plans differ eightfold and the data location is clear: 2,000 contacts in the EU against 250 in the United States.
